Fun with Hailey

This past week our girls have been at girls' camp and we had my niece, Hailey, come and keep Taite company.  We had quite the busy week trying to fit everything in that we wanted to do, but hopefully we made it fun and she will want to come back soon.

Our adventures with Hailey included:

1. A tour of Franklin, the oldest town in Idaho:  We took her through the historic buildings including the relic hall, Hatch House, Doney House, jail, and city building.

2. Napoleon Dynamite Tour:  We knew that one of Hailey's favorite movies from the past was Napoleon Dynamite and since the movie was made right here in good old Preston we took her on the tour of all tours.  We made sure to hit all the main scene locations including playing on the same playground Napoleon did.  Unfortunately we couldn't get in the high school to show her the lockers truly look exactly like they do in the movie.

3.  Bear Lake and Oregon Trail Museum:  We didn't choose the best day to go to Bear Lake, it was windy and cold, but for an hour we waded in the lake and collected shells along the shoreline.  Then, after a bit of a chilly hour we loaded in the car and went to the Oregon Trail Museum in Montpelier.  If we would have known the museum was there we probably wouldn't have ventured to the lake in the first place.

4.  Willow Flat hike and picnic:  We took a nice leisurely hike up to the spring at Willow Flat and had a picnic at the top. A great way to spend a hot day.

5.  Frank's Farm:  Of course Hailey couldn't visit without Taite taking her to his favorite place of all...THE FARM.  He showed her all of his favorite things:  the animals, the dirt hill, the river, etc. and finally she got to go on her horse ride.

6.  Fishing and Cook-out:  The final night Hailey was here Dave took the two of them down to the river below Franklin to fish.  I don't think they can call it a successful fishing trip, but they had great fun and had a cook-out while they were down there.

We are going to miss having her stay with us, and hope she will come back soon.
