Shaylee has completed her last cross country season as a junior high student. It is exciting for me to see her do something that I have true passion for. She has had a terrific year at each of the meets she participated in:

She has made some great friends with many of the cross country boys and girls in both the junior high and high school. Many of them know the dilemma she is in between volleyball and cross country as a freshman and the pressure is on from the cross country team for her to stick with it and join the high school team. Once again the ball is in her court and she has to make the decision. For now she is off to the gym for a little basketball....did I say little, well you know that is an understatement.
All too soon the high school girls soccer season has come to an end as well. Unfortunately, yesterday's game loss put an end to their hopes of returning to the state tournament this year. As a parent it is so hard to see the disappointment that the girls showed as they hung their heads and walked off the field after their season ending game. To that I say, "CHIN UP". These girls have absolutely nothing to hang their heads about. They have taken on the challenges given to them this year and gave it their all.
As Coach Lyon says: (I hope he doesn't care I post this, but he has penned great words of advice to a team that is hurting right now)
To my girls:
I'm so proud of you. Since the first of June when we started on this journey together we have faced so many challenges, both on and off the field. Faced with so much, many teams would have struggled. But you accepted those challenges, attacked them head on, and became a team. You gave your hearts to your teammates and your coaches. And now girls, as our season has ended sooner than expected, we are faced with one more challenge: where do we go from here? How do we respond? This is only the beginning of something special. We are 2 seasons into our goal of transforming this program into the best program in the state. We will be back and we will be better. One of the sad things in life is that sometimes, for whatever reason, we do not always accomplish our goals. It hurts so bad because you cared so much. But one of the many, many great things in life is that we will wake up tomorrow, thankful for what we do have, set some new goals, and begin a new journey together.
To our 4 seniors, we love you and will miss you. But when the day comes, and it will, that we lift that championship trophy, our thoughts will be with you. You started us on this journey and your influence will always be felt.
So girls, here we go. New challenges await. Let's face them head on together. Look out for each, help each other, care for each other. We've come so far and we have so much more ahead of us....We got this. -Coach Lyon
Oh, how we love our girls and their coaches.
I am so proud of Olivia. She has truly given soccer her all. As she struggled through the summer of healing from a concussion and a foot injury. Watching as the girls, as young as many of them were, develop into a team. As Olivia learned her new position and then had to sit out due to a sprained ankle. The ups and downs of this season have taken us all on a roller coaster ride, however the girls will come back ready to fight next year. You finished a great season, Liv, and I am proud of you and your hard work and dedication. Way to finish the season with a winning record (11-5-0).
