Spring Things.....

Due to our move there have been a few items that I should have blogged, but overlooked due to the frantic moments we have had lately. This post is a compilation of skipped happenings in our lives.
The killer deer of Franklin County, as Taite calls it, has come to an end. Last fall a good friend of mine was attacked, while out running by Little Mountain, by a buck mule deer. Luckily, two people saw her being attacked and were able to rescue her and get her to the hospital where one of the rescuers and my friend were treated for puncture wounds and bruises. Everyone around the area has been a little weary as to whether it was safe to go out running or not now that we had an attack deer on the loose. However, early this spring Dave, Taite, and Masen were on Little Mountain hunting rock chucks. Dave went a little ways below the boys and a deer came at him and wouldn't back off. He threw a rock at it and it just shook its head and continued circling it. Meanwhile, Taite yelled down to Dave, with his BB gun pointed at the deer, "Want me to take care of it, Dad?" Dave didn't let Taite shoot, but he did call the fish and game and the officer came out to check and see if it was the same deer. Sure enough they identified it compared to size and disposition as the deer that had attacked my friend. They disposed of the deer and now the roads of Franklin are safe to run on once again.
Our 18th anniversary came and went with hardly a single thought, other than to tell each other thanks for the road we have traveled. May 7th, found us in the middle of a crazy move, in fact it was one of the first nights we stayed at the new house. However, even though we didn't formally celebrate, it was on my mind and I am happy to say we have come along way in those 18 years. At times it hasn't been easy, but it has been worth it. Here's to 18+ more on this crazy road we call life.
Shaylee and Dave were able to go on a bear hunt together with Tracey Moser and his son. Shaylee drew on a hunt in Council, Idaho. They came back with lots of stories to tell and it was obvious that they had had a great trip. Shaylee thanks the "turkey hunter" for helping her be successful and shoot her first black bear. The story will have to be shared by the hunters, if you are interested.
Taite completed Hunter's Education in the spring as well. He is the last one in the family to need to take the course. They are all certified hunters. He is so excited to be able to actually hunt turkeys next spring when he turns ten. Until then, he will keep plugging away with his BB gun and air soft gun to keep in practice for the real thing. Happy Hunting Buddy!
With all these spring things, and the ones mentioned in earlier posts we have kept very busy trying to keep up and work at getting settled in our home. Hopefully, before too long it will feel like home
