Miami Heat vs. Utah Jazz

Just because we live close to Utah does not mean my daughters have any feelings of obligations towards the NBA team from that state.  Shaylee purchased tickets to go to the Jazz game on January 14 only because they were playing her favorite team, the Miami Heat.  She eats, drinks, sleeps, talks, plays basketball, and this was definitely a highlight for her.  I am not sure how the entire night went down, other than Shaylee I am sure will never forget it.  The score did not end in her team's favor (97-104), but she has a story to tell that not many could. I am sure I can't tell the story near as well as Dave can, since he was in the seats watching it take place, but I will try.

Before the game started she asked Dave if she could try to get high~fives from the players.  He told her the only way that would happen was if she was in the tunnel when they came out of the locker room.  So being Shaylee, and not having any sense of hesitation, she headed to the tunnel pushing and shoving with the big guys.  As the team came out boom, boom, boom:  Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen, Chris Bosh, Mario Chalmers, they all give her high~fives.  And then comes her idol .... LaBron James.  As he comes out of the tunnel, three minutes behind everyone else, he ducks his head and won't even look at the fans.  Shaylee is still holding her hand out for a five and since he doesn't give her one, she takes matters into her own hands.  Shaylee high~fives his head!!! Hmmm, lack of respect?  Probably.  A moment she will never forget?  Definitely!

GO MIAMI!
