CONGRATULATIONS to my two beautiful athletic daughters! I am a couple weeks behind, but just wanted to let them know how proud I am after a long weekend of....you guessed it....BASKETBALL.
Olivia has finished her 7th grade basketball season. It has been a growing year for her with lots of satisfaction mixed with disappointments. She was the floater between two teams, the A team and the B team. On the B team she was the main point guard and had to really step up her game and play. It was fun to see her set aside reservations and just play ball. Their team only won a couple of games, but disreguarding scores, they were the most improved team over the season. They came out strong in the tournament, but a couple of rough plays sent them to the consolation bracket where they came away winning the consolation game. The A team went undefeated this season. Olivia loved being on the team that she has played with for the past four years, but there were some definite changes in the team dynamics this year and it was a little hard for Olivia. One thing about her is that she puts her heart into every day of playing. She loves the game and I am so proud of how hard she has worked to become the player that she is.

Shaylee's 5th grade team that Dave has put together also had a tournament a couple of weeks ago. They came out on top after a tough, hard fought battle and won the tournament as well. Shaylee reminds me quite a lot of myself when I started playing ball, except that I don't remember touching a ball until 7th grade tryouts. She has grown so fast and is now at 5'4". Now if her coordination could grow into her body height she really would be unstoppable. She is now in another league that runs for 3 more weeks and then some pick-up tournaments on the weekends.
Taite too has finished basketball. He doesn't love to play on a team, but he LOVES to go to the gym with his dad and shoot baskets. His favorite play this year was when he was playing lightning with Shaylee's team and he got someone out. He says that is when he knew he could play good.
Oh, we love the game of basketball.........oh yes, and soccer, and volleyball, and softball, etc., etc. etc.

I'm not surprised that your kids are so athletic! What great accomplishments to celebrate! Love your blog and keeping up with your family!!!
