Another oversight when I was updating is Shaylee's new look for the next two years. The first week of June she visited the orthodontist and came out with a brand new look. I was surprised when he told us she would be sporting the look for the next TWO YEARS! We went in because her front top two teeth came together in a slight V-shape. However, after her exam we found out she had a few more issues than just the top teeth. Because of her bite all the pressure was on the front two teeth, top and bottom. The bottom teeth were actually wearing off the back of her front teeth and her molars were just hanging out enjoying not doing any work. Neither Dave nor I have had any experience with braces so this is all new territory to us. The day they put the braces on the ortho told us there was a good chance, because of her bite, that her top teeth would knock off the bottom brackets. Sure enough within two hours she had knocked off two brackets and by the end of the night she was at three being knocked off. The next day we went in, they removed all of the lower brackets and started over. To this point they have all stayed on and she is doing great. She has had a few times where sores have appeared, but she is good to stick wax on them and carry on. The hardest part is that she can't eat her favorite things namely: gum, starbursts, grandma's caramel popcorn, baby carrots, etc. I promised her the day she get the braces off, if she does exactly what the ortho asks for the next two years, we will go to Sam's and buy her her gum of choice, in multi-pack! Hang in there girl, your smile will be worth thousands $$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
