Shaylee is still on a roll with basketball. She is currently playing on a team from Ogden Utah called the Utah Wildcats. It is different going to a game when your child is playing for a team not from Preston. She is having a great time, and really enjoying meeting other girls. She is coached by Bob Valdez, who has a complete different approach to coaching than she is used to and she loves it. Sometimes I wonder if she is just a little intimidated, but she seems to get in and play hard when it is practice and game time. She played in a Memorial Day Weekend Tournament in West Jordan. Even though her team didn't come out on time she said she had lots of fun. To add to the fun just her and Dave went to the tournament, because Olivia had soccer and basketball here. While they were gone they were able to spend time with the Pond family, Rick was a mission companion of Dave's. They enjoyed the chance to visit with Rick and Sandi and their two boys and also spend some time at one of our favorite places, the Dinosaur Museum and Thanksgiving Point. Glad they had a fun weekend!
The following week Taite attended the Preston Indians basketball camp. I can't figure him out sometimes? He loves to go play ball with Dave and the girls at the gym, in the backyard, and across the street at the park, but when it comes to doing sports with kids his own age he all of a sudden doesn't like ball. We didn't tell him we had signed him up for the camp, which maybe wasn't very nice, but the first day we took him to the High School he had a blast. Each day after that it was a battle to get him up and to the gym, he kept telling us he hates basketball. However, once he was to the gym he was right in the middle of all the other kids laughing, smiling, having a great time playing ball. Not sure what his niche is yet, other than Nintendo and TV, but we are sure trying hard to find it. I am just hoping that what ever he chooses to do that he is active and healthy. Good job at camp buddy, it was fun to watch you.
